Auto Restoration Russia – What Does It Mean When the Water Temperature is Too High in a car?

The water temperature of a car getting too high means the automobile is getting too hot to drive. It can lead to severe functioning problems, and if the car is kept on to be driven, it can cause serious technical problems, sometimes even permanent. There can be a few reasons behind this happening. Auto restoration mechanics in Russia will tell you that one of the most common ones is if the car has been running for too long, or the heat outside has interrupted with the mechanisms and heated the water in the radiator up more than it should.

What happens when the water temperature gets too high?

If the water heater of the car gets excessively high, all the metal parts inside the car will start acting up at first and then succumb to complete destruction. The high temperature will probably melt the aluminum, iron or steel parts, or damage then beyond salvation. If your car loses the main parts like pistons, cylinders, and valves among others, it will be difficult for the automobile to function.

How to know this is happening?

When the water temperature gets too high, the temperature indicator on your dashboard will flash an alert sign that the engine is not being cooled enough. Moreover, you can smell burning odors, and even might see fumes near the hood.

What to do when it happens?

Whenever this occurs, the first thing to do is to pull over to the side of the road as safely as possible, then shut the ignitions, turn off the engines and put the car transmission into ‘park’ mode. The next step would be to open the hood of the car with the help of some leverage. While doing this, you must keep your face and body parts as far as possible, and use a piece of cloth to wrap around the hands while popping the hood open. The steam coming out of the hood would probably be very much higher than boiling point, and the last thing you want is to get a steam burn from your own car.

The best thing you can do is to call up a local mechanic of auto restoration in Russia if you are in the neighborhood. If you are on the highway or somewhere far away, you can try calling a tow truck. If that too is out of the question, you can try and do it yourself.

First, you have to let the radiator cool down before opening the lid. When you see all the heat and steam vanish from the hood area, only then you can touch the radiator and open it. Pour fresh water into the radiator, along with whichever coolant or antifreeze you use in a 50/50 ratio. You should always keep one in the trunk when traveling. If you don’t have any, you can wave down a passer-by car and ask for help.

How to prevent this from happening?

The trick to avoiding this is to maintain a balance in the water and coolant mixture and use it on a regular basis. If you are confused, consult an expert on auto restoration in Russia and get the quantity right.
